Rockstar Studios took everything that’s was amazingly intense from the previous Batman title and increased it thrice fold, that’s right, batman’s combat systems is enhanced, the thugs and gangs are tougher yet smarter and a range of new counter attacks or ranged weapons to keep the Bat at bay. Batman’s detective skills as been improved with more gadgets for puzzle and crime solving purposes, especially when you’ve got an entire fortified city to explore

Gotham City open for business

Arkham City is very big, so big in fact that it seems like Batman would need to run everywhere right? Well not really, the caped Crusader has a new technique for getting around the city. You can still grapple, glide and climb around/or on buildings, but while in the air, Batman can “free-fall” like a descend on a rollercoaster, for increased speed while gliding. You can imagine how powerful Batman becomes by combining breakneck speed with an aerial attack, I feel sorry for anyone standing in his way.

I guess you can’t make an omelette without breaking a few necks. A host of new bosses and tougher enemies have all crawled out of the woodwork to stop Batman from protecting Gotham City. New enemies like Dr Freeze, Hugh Strange, Two Face and others are determined to stop the Dark knight at all costs.

The worse example of two heads being better than one

This dark city has a few secrets of its own and you get to discover all the mysteries it holds. Like with Arkham Asylum, the visuals of this dark, unforgiving city is marvellously detailed. Every street, steam pipe, streets and buildings have been beautifully rendered in such a intense fashion making batman blend well into the under belly of the city.

The Batman signal

The single player campaign is massive and will keep you busy for a long time. In addition to the main campaign is the return of challenge modes and other new features to add playability as well as value to the game. The infamous Catwoman is also fully playable in Batman Arkham City and has an own storyline, combat techniques and challenges giving you a glimpse of what its like to be a master thief or “cat-burglar”.

Batman Arkham City is the benchmark for all other 3rd person action adventure titles to follow.
